“I dream that Europeans would visit, see our recovered country and say: “How wonderful!” That is why garbage recycling is an important, difficult and interesting task,” – the most important words of the co-owner and commercial director of the company “Green Company NV” during his conversation with the consultant of the CMC-Ukraine community.

We continue the cycle of inspiring stories of the participants of the project “Business Development Services Provided to Ukrainian MSME in crisis due to the ongoing war” which is realized by CMC-Ukraine together with Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with the support of Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office and National Platform Diia.Business.

The company started its activity in 2009 in Mariupol, the enterprise is specialized in garbage and PET bottles recycling. The main markets - Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Romania. When in 2014 the russians started to bomb Mariupol, the decision to relocate the company to Zaporizhzhia was made. Later, they returned to Mariupol in order to open two lines – sorting and recycling of garbage and plastic with a network of collection points.

The first days of the war Andriy and his family spent in Irpin, in a basement. In a period of calm they were lucky to get out of there by car. Those company’s assets in Mariupol which did not burn down were plundered.

After some time spent thinking and business ruining, they decided to apply for the Ukrainian Government’s business relocation program. Only that equipment which was in Zaporizhzhia was transported. The company “Green Company NV” is now relocated to Novovolynsk and is at the final stage of launching.

Andriy Mykhaylov joined the project “Business Development Services Provided to Ukrainian MSME in crisis due to the ongoing war” with a tactical request concerning price formation for the European markets. Later, the request has transformed – the tactical goal became strategical: to not just form a price, but also offer new value to the customers and partners on the European market.

The results received in the project Andriy describes in the following way:

“The value of the project is to listen to what another person says and gain experience. To work with those people, who understand and are able to give advice.

The main result – the ideas, which were developed during the work with the consultant.

The project is something that motivates, ignites and keeps in tune.”

In times when everything around is disintegrating, it is important to preserve value and concept to continue doing the things we love and are able to do. We believe, that the professional community of management consultants in cooperation with domestic entrepreneurs are able to overcome the challenges of the war and recover business in Ukraine.
